Blessed are those who mourn

One of the first people we connected with was Nancy Harden, a spirit filled intercessor and matriarch in Oakland. Immediately the Lord kit our hearts together and she became like a spiritual mother to me. I called her my African American mother. A few years ago when she suddenly lost her husband, I learn so much by observing the way she walked through the grieving process with so much godly wisdom. When friends wanted to comfort her prematurely, she told them, “No, I don’t need that now, let me mourn.”

When Jesus taught “blessed are those who mourn” he put mourning as a key step in the process of repentance, not only for those who have experienced the lose of a love one or the pain of a divorce, but for all of us who want to be cleaned of our sins and enter into the kingdom of heaven.

There are two versions of this message, a 30 minute version I shared at our local congregation here in San Jose and an 80 minute “soul” version I shared at Randal Road Christian Fellowship in Bermuda.

I hope they will minister to your spirit and open up Jesus’ teaching in the sermon on the mount to you in a fresh new light. Blessings, Ted PS.
