Tonight we kick off the TRANSFORMATION EXPERIENCE -5 wonderful days in San Francisco, Salinas and Vallejo! Transformation is not an event, it is a process of "rebuilding the ancient ruins and restoring the cities long devastated," in the words of the prophet Isaiah (Is. 61.4). This is why I am so excited about this week -there is a grassroots movements of Californians passionate to see this state transformed to God's original design and working together to make it happen!
Did you know that hundred of intercessors from around the state will be joining us to seek the Lord together and then go out all over the region to raise a canopy of prayer? These intercessors are part of a statewide prayer movement that has been praying continually 24/7 since a few months before California's '08 election!
Did you know that in the city of Vallejo, a broad coalition of pastors and faith based leaders are working with their mayor and superintendent of schools to adopt every single school in Vallejo? Did you know that their Mayor, a born again committed follower of Jesus, the first African-American mayor of this predominantly African-American city, won a surprise victory by a margin of only 3 votes after a recount?
Did you know that in San Francisco, the body of Christ is alive and well and modeling exciting innovative ways to express the love of the Father to a city that runs away from anything that even smells religious? Christians activists are on the frontline combating human trafficking and the sex trade. A coalition of ministries are taking the kingdom of God to the streets to minister to the homeless -daily miracles are the result. Churches are getting involved in the marketplace in creative ways, including one that owns an award winning cafe that is becoming the center of community for their neighborhood.
Did you know that in Salinas, pastors and marketplace leaders are working with their mayor, city council and state representative, to address the needs of the city?
I could go on and on with all that is happening. I have never seen such unity and cooperation across ethnic and denominational lines. In California the body of Christ is beginning to learn what it means to be one. California is in a crisis and we have a long ways to go, but transformation is happening and this week will be a very significant accelerator. The amazing faculty and team of spiritual marines joining us from around the nation will leave a mark.
Best of all, after next Saturday, the Bay Area will no longer be called deserted because on that day hundreds of Christians mobilized to pray all over the place, will "Marry the land." For some of us it will be a renewal of our vows, for other it will be their wedding day, but the point is that when we make our covenant on earth, God from heaven will extend the covering of His covenant from heaven over our land, and it will no longer be desolate! This is what we call a canopy of prayer!
It is still possible to join us. The prayer cruise on Saturday is filled up, but you can join us for the other events -all the evening meetings are free! If you can't join us, follow the live blog of the event through our website, just click here, or you can search #sfte on twitter.com.
