The mayor of Cabadbaran City, hundreds of miles away in the Mindanao region, doesn't think so. It's here that Harvest Evangelism's Philippines Director King Flores, the spiritual mentor to Parañaque's transformation, teamed with associates Terry and Chris Lawrence of Kingdom Builders Network and Pastor Philip Gonzales, a local leader who has labored decades for transformation of the area, to show Cabadbaran how much God loves its people and the city. The Mayor, who was already drawn to their servant spirit, became emboldened by the Parañaque example. With his blessing, they tackled the most significant challenge facing Cabadbaran - the rescue of its unwanted street children, most of which are orphans literally abandoned to live in rubbish. Terry and Chris, via their network, labored and invested diligently to design, build and staff a brand-new Children's Home, which has become an extraordinary blessing. The street children now have a home where the love and care sorely missing before is available in abundance. As an added bonus, the common cause of restoring the street children's dignity via the completion of the home soon became a rallying point for the local believers to reach across denominational lines and establish a new purpose and identity for the Church of Cabadbaran as caretakers of its hurting and abandoned. Upon completion of the home last month, a dedication ceremony was held. +Because the project had touched him so deeply, the mayor, who had never before even openly professed faith, publicly expressed his desire before the gathered marketplace leaders, dignitaries and Church leaders to become a pastor to the entire city so that all of Cabadbaran would be transformed!+ The next day, the mayor and his office helped host a transformation seminar for the marketplace and pulpit leaders of Cabadbaran where King Flores taught prayer evangelism as a lifestyle. +The city officials were so energized by the insights that they are beginning to integrate them into their existing practices.+ On top of this, leaders are now hoping to hold a regional conference for the entire Caraga region so that transformation will happen in the whole of Mindanao, the Philippines' second largest island!
